How to Take Care of Your Twins Pregnancy

Ma'am! I see two babies here! Yes, you're having twins. Here's how to take care of yourself during your pregnancy;remember, you're caring for 3!

Steps

  1. Do whatever the Doctor tells you. Even if it sounds ridiculous.
  2. Rest, rest, rest.
  3. Read "When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads" by Barbara Luke. It's the easiest way to avoid preterm delivery, which is very common in multiple pregnancies. You will be amazed by how much the book tells you to eat in your first trimester, but do it!
  4. Remember, it doesn't matter if you have had other "wonderful pregnancies"; this one is different. You are carrying two babies, you must take it easy.
  5. Be informed. Knowing what can happen and how to deal with it will help you to cope with any situation that may arise.
  6. Avoid driving from week 20 on if possible.
  7. Delegate! Ask your family to help you with various chores and errands.
  8. Hire someone to help with the cooking and cleaning, if you can afford it.
  9. If it is okay with your doctor, take an aquafit class or find your way into a pool a couple of days a week. The water gives wonderful support and freedom of movement.
  10. Be loving with your husband. Understand that he feels the stress too, and is very worried about you.
  11. Try not to stress and be happy.
  12. Enjoy your babies! Play with them, share smiles and maybe even a small giggle.

Tips

  • While you rest, watch TV, read book, chat on the phone, eat, etc.
  • Enjoy your quiet time...your hands will be very full soon!
